Pittsburg Veterinary Laser Therapy
Fast Healing & Pain Relief for Pets
It’s heartbreaking to see your pet suffering from pain. At Pittsburg Veterinary Clinic, we offer laser therapy, a recent technological advancement, to help all our four-legged patients. This new technology has been proven to benefit pets who suffer from painful conditions, such as arthritis, and it even helps speed up healing from wounds or surgery.
What Is Laser Therapy for Horses, Dogs and Cats and How Does It Work?
Laser therapy uses concentrated light energy to stimulate cell production. This process is called photobiomodulation and the results include improved circulation, increased cell activity, and a release of endorphins, all of which mean faster healing and less pain for your pet. For surface-level injuries and conditions, such as soft tissue surgery recovery or hot spots on dogs, only one or two sessions is enough to engender an effective response. Meanwhile, more chronic, deep-rooted conditions such as orthopedic issues, demand a lengthier treatment plan.
Why We Recommend Laser Therapy
When your pet has a wound or surgical incision, cells are damaged. In order to properly heal and get pain relief, the cells must be reproduced. The concentrated light from the laser helps stimulate this process.
We often recommend laser therapy as a form of pain management for senior pets who have arthritis. After just a few sessions, we’ve seen pets who were originally unable to move easily due to stiffness and pain begin to resume their normal active lifestyles. When pets are active, it increases their quality of life.
We also use laser therapy to treat other conditions, including:
- Ear inflammation
- Post-surgical wounds
- Spinal Cord Pain and Injury
- Lick Granulomas
In addition to quicker healing and pain relief, pets that receive laser therapy are less reliant on drugs and have significantly improved mobility.
